To take a screenshot, press and hold the combination of three keys at the same time: Shift+Command+3.
Then you see a small thumbnail photo in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click it to see your screenshot.

If you just want to take a photo of a specific part of your screen, press and hold the combination of three keys at the same time: Shift+Command+4.

Right-click on the screenshot you’ve taken, and choose "Open With" and "Preview."
